12-Aug-2008

BASF is investing in the production of its sustainable complexing agent Trilon® M. The construction of a new world-scale plant at Ludwigshafen, Germany, has begun. Upon completion in 2010, BASF will have a worldwide capacity of 120,000 tonnes a year for its complete range of complexing agents.

Sold under the brand name Trilon M, the sales of methylglycinedi-acetic acid continue to grow, confirming the extremely strong performance profile and the eco-friendliness of this complexing agent in the class of aminocarboxylates, according to the company. "By expanding its capacity for this complexing agent, produced exclusively by BASF, the company is helping customers achieve sustainable economic development", ex-plains BASF's marketing director, Dr. Thomas Greindl, Care Chemi-cals & Formulators Europe.

BASF manufactures its complexing agents at its Ludwigshafen site as well as in Lima, Ohio (US) and Guaratinguetá (Brazil).
