DSM installs international Scientific Advisory Board
DSM announced that it has installed an international Scientific Advisory Board comprising five leading experts: Professor Bert Meijer of the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands), who was appointed earlier as chairman, Professor Hannelore Daniel (München University of Technology, Germany), Professor Gerhart Eigenberger (University of Stuttgart, Germany), Professor Ed Kramer (University of California, Santa Barbara, USA) and Professor Hermann Sahm (University of Düsseldorf and Jülich Research Center, Germany). The advisory body will work closely with DSM's internal Science & Technology Council, chaired by Chief Technology Officer Jos Put.
The Scientific Advisory Board has been created to support DSM in achieving its growth ambitions via innovation and to serve as a gateway to the outside world. This is in line with DSM's Open Innovation approach, a key element of which is interaction with the external knowledge infrastructure. The Board's members cover the areas of research that are the most important for DSM's current and future activities. Professor Meijer is an expert in organic and polymer chemistry, Professor Daniel in nutrition, Professor Eigenberger in process technology, Professor Kramer in material sciences and Professor Sahm in biotechnology.
According to DSM deputy chairman Jan Zuidam the five members of the Scientific Advisory Board together form a world-class team of experts: 'We are proud to have scientists of such a high international standing working in an advisory capacity to DSM. With their knowledge and experience they will be able to help us further develop our core competences.'
