12-Jul-2011 - Germany

At its Annual General Meeting the European Confederation of Inspection and Certification Organisations (CEOC) has appointed DEKRA Manager Mark Thomä to its Board of Directors. Thomä (43) is a member of the Board of Directors of DEKRA SE and head of the DEKRA Industrial business unit.

DEKRA

CEOC International (Confederation of Inspection and Certification Organisations) is an industry association that serves to bundle the interests of 29 certification and inspection organisations from 22 countries. The aim of the confederation is to promote safety and quality in Europe and throughout the world such as the safety of factories or children’s toys. Among other things, the members of CEOC are active in the fields of the environment, healthcare, investment security, product safety and quality and environmental management.

“We wish to develop further the work of the certification and inspection organisations and enhance further the networking of companies that stand for safety and quality for the well-being of the consumer in Europe,” said Mark Thomä after his election. Within the scope of his mandate he wishes to do a lot to strengthen the necessary independence of testing organisations in terms of quality, safety and sustainability.

Mark Thomä started his career at DEKRA in 1996 as managing director of DEKRA International GmbH and DEKRA-DEG Osteuropa GmbH. In July 2005 he was appointed head of the DEKRA Industrial business unit. Mark Thomä played a major part in the takeover of a large share of the formerly state-owned French truck testing centres and the third largest French industrial provider of testing services NORISKO. Thomä, a graduate financial specialist, developed the young industrial testing business at DEKRA into the group’s second strongest growth pillar within a very short space of time.
