Rhodia increases its Rhodiantal production capacity in China

21-Oct-2010 - China

Rhodia has announced an increase in its IBCH (IsoBornyl CycloHexanol) production capacity in China in conjunction with the transfer of its Wuxi plant to the group’s new industrial platform located in Zhenjiang (Jiangsu province). IBCH is used by the perfumery industry.

Rhodia’s global business unit, Aroma Performance, a world-class player in the aroma chemicals market, is strengthening its position as the leading global producer of IBCH. Rhodiantal™ IBCH is a key ingredient in the formulation of the “sandalwood” note for use in fine fragrances, home and personal care products, and incense products. Sandalwood is highly appreciated in India and China.

By investing in this business segment via the vertical integration of the gaiacol value chain, Aroma Performance – which is unique in integrating the entire value chain – is betting on the high growth potential of this market.

“This investment reflects our ongoing strategy aimed at strengthening the position of Aroma Performance in the rapidly growing specialty products market in Asia,” affirms Dominique Rage, CEO of Aroma Performance.

“This new plant, destined to begin operations in 2011, will offer our customers optimal quality of service,” adds Olivier Champault, regional director of Aroma Performance, Asia-Pacific region.
