Dow Europe GmbH Announces Price Increases for Polystyrene Products

05-May-2008

Raw material and energy costs for Dow remain high with respect to polystyrene production, and margins continue to be at unacceptably low levels. As a result, Dow Europe GmbH is announcing a price increase across the Indian, Middle Eastern, European and African regions for all polystyrene resins. Specifically also, the costs of additives used in High Impact Polystyrene resins (HIPS) have risen considerably, requiring additional increases for these grades.

Effective May 1, 2008, where contractually possible, Dow Europe polystyrene prices will rise by 45 Euro per metric ton on all grades of general purpose polystyrene resins (GPPS), and by 55 Euro/MT for all high impact polystyrene resins (HIPS) and STYRON(TM) A-TECH(TM) advanced technology polystyrene resins.
