CECA announces a worldwide price increase for its 3 Angstrom Molecular Sieves in response to a surge in Potassium prices

05-Feb-2008

CECA, a subsidiary of ARKEMA, has announced an increase in the sales price of its Siliporite® 3 Angstrom (3A) Molecular sieves of 70 to 100 Euros per tonne. This increase is in response to the sharp rise in the cost of potassium Chloride.

« The market for Potassium Chloride, one of the raw materials for 3A Molecular Sieves, has seen a sudden surge in prices in excess of 60% since the beginning of 2008 » explains Pierre Verdier, Director, CECA Molecular Sieves. « As the world's second largest producer of Molecular Sieves, we have to maintain our margins at an appropriate level to be able to reinvest in our production capacities and so guarantee reliable supplies for our customers. »

CECA will be implementing this « Potassium surcharge » on its 3A Molecular Sieves around the world immediately and in every market segment. This surcharge will be lifted as soon as Potassium Chloride prices revert to normal.
