June Chlorine Production Down, But First Half Up

European chlorine production totalled 5,260,099 tonnes in the first six months of 2007, up by 3.5% on the same period last year (5,081,746 tonnes).

Production in June of 840,732 tonnes, was 1.9% down compared with June 2006 (856,942 tonnes) and influenced by a number of planned maintenance shutdowns. Daily average production last month was 28,024 tonnes, compared with 28,565 tonnes in June 2006.

Caustic soda stocks totalled 258,019 tonnes at the 29th June (last Friday before month end), some 6.1% lower than the figure for the previous month (274,664 tonnes) but exports outside Europe (excluding Russia) were up 27.5% from 47,039 tonnes the previous month to 59,964 tonnes.
