Makhteshim-Agan continues to strengthen its position in the growing markets of Central and Eastern Europe

Acquired a distribution company in the Czech Republic and established one in Russia

Makhteshim Agan announced that recently it has acquired a distribution company in the Czech Republic and established a distribution company in Russia. In a continuous effort to strengthen its position in the European crop protection market Makhteshim Agan lately completed two important moves.

One of MAI's wholy owned subsidiarirs acquired 75% of Agrovita, a distribution company that was established 15 years ago in Prague, the Czech Republic."Our growth in recent years in the Czech Republic was led by the excellent Agrovita team as our agent, and we believe that this new partnership, together with our widening product portfolio, will further strengthen our position in this market" said Shaul Friedland, VP Sales of MAI.

Makhteshim Agan has also just established a distribution company in Russia. The Russian crop protection market is expected to become one of the globally largest and fast growing markets for agrochemicals, due to the potential that stems from its vast agricultural areas (in 2005 valued at approximately 300 million dollars).
