Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd, Dow AgroSciences LLC to co-develop a new insecticide
Sumitomo Chemical will sell the formulated products in Japan. The products are scheduled to be launched in Japan in 2010. Dow AgroSciences will hold the global rights in all markets excluding Japan.
S-1947 is a new insecticide that originates in an active substance produced by soil actinomyces (Saccaropolyuspora spinosa). This insecticide is highly effective against pests, such as lepidopterous pests, thrips and leafminer flies, that are considered difficult to control because of their high insecticide-resistance. It also has an excellent environmental and human safety profile. S-1947 can be used for vegetables, tea, fruit trees, and rice.
