WHITELINE and Basotect - The ceiling system by illbruck and the foam by BASF
In 1999, BASF and illbruck Bau-Technik formed a working group. The task was to develop a ceiling system for the lower market segment and an alternative to the conventional rock wool ceilings. The ceiling elements have to be stable in form and aesthetic in appearance. Further requirements are high acoustical performance and a competitive price. Basotect fulfils these demands completely. It offers high sound absorption capacity, high temperature resistance and fire characteristics B1 according to DIN 4102.
The ceiling elements consist of a ten-millimeter Basotect core. Both sides of this core are laminated with a nonwoven. The laminating takes place at illbruck's, with the aid of a Kauramin adhesive material from BASF. The excellent acoustic properties of the ceiling system are enhanced by the laminate because of its increased specific sound impedance.
Mineral wool puts a weight of 1.5 to 4 kilograms onto each square meter of ceiling. Because of the light Basotect the same surface area of WHITELINE weighs only 300 grams. The logistical advantages resulting from this low weight are numerous. Transport costs are lower, storing is cheaper, mounting time is shorter than with alternative materials like mineral wool. Plates with high dimensions (up to 2500 x 1250 millimeter) offer further possibilities to save cost , mounting time and construction effort.
Lighting installation
The lighting is an important functional element that has to be integrated into every ceiling . WHITELINE's white surface and high light reflection is ideal for direct or direct-indirect illumination solutions. Illbruck offers different forms of lighting, among them lighting units for video working stations, directly integrated so-called Down-Lights and pendulous lamps.
Visitors of the K 2001 in Düsseldorf will have the opportunity to see the system live. The complete stand of BASF in hall 5 will be equipped with the ceiling system WHITELINE by illbruck.
