AnalyticaChina establishes itself as leading international trade fair for analysis and lab technology for the Chinese market

15-Sep-2004

Together with 200 exhibitors from 18 countries, more than 6,600 visitors from 40 countries and regions confirmed the success of AnalyticaChina, which was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC), Shanghai Pudong, China from September 7 - 9, 2004. It was the second edition of the trade fair, which served as a meeting place and communications platform for global suppliers and users of analysis equipment and accessories, laboratory technology and life-science solutions. "The success of the fair's premiere convinced the exhibitors to come back again. Increases in the number of exhibitors and the amount of exhibition space demonstrate that market players have confidence in the show's concept, which is based on the original Analytica in Munich," explains Kurt Schraudy, Managing Director of IMAG, a subsidiary company of Munich International trade fairs. The show occupied more than 7,000 square meters of exhibition space and showcased companies from around the world that manufacture analysis equipment, laboratory technology and life-science solutions. That is a 20% increase compared to AnalyticaChina 2002. The number of exhibitors was also up, increasing by 16% from

172 at the premiere to 200 at this year's fair. The three-day show was attended by more than 6,600 visitors from 40 countries and regions, one-third of them from out of Shanghai (AnalyticaChina 2002: 6,500 visitors over four days). 89% of the exhibitors and 96% of the visitors stated that they would recommend the show to their business partners, while 89% of the exhibitors and 96% of the visitors said that they plan to attend the next time the fair is held.

Dr. Richard Zhang, Country Manager and Chief Representative of Merck China, is satisfied with the results of the show: "When AnalyticaChina celebrated its premiere two years ago, we as well as a number of other exhibitors attended the show to try out the temperature and the depth of the water. Like many other companies, we only brought some regular products to the show. This time we booked more exhibition space, spent considerably more money on the design and construction of out stand, and brought our newest products to introduce them to the market. AnalyticaChina is a trade fair worth spending a large budget on. We are pleased to see it grow into the most important event in the Far Eastern region."

Mr. Klaus Engler, General Manager of EMCLAB and co-exhibitor in the German Pavilion along with other 40 companies, also feels that exhibiting at AnalyticaChina 2004 was a wise decision: "Most of us are small and medium-sized companies. This is the first time that some of us have exhibited at AnalyticaChina. Some are even in China for the first time. Our goal was to get to know the Chinese market, present our companies, meet our potential customers and set up cooperation agreements with Chinese partners here. And we certainly met our objective. We met a lot of dealers, and most of them were decision makers. We are pleased about the show. Most of us will attend AnalyticaChina again." Mr. John Lees, Managing Director of LTE Scientific Ltd. at the Great Britain Pavilion, and Mr. Juan Fanals, Trade Officer of Consulate Spain, who is responsible for Spanish Pavilion, also made similar comments and confirmed their willingness to exhibit again at the next AnalyticaChina. Mr. Zhang Jungao, Senior Economist and Adviser at Shanghai Precision & Scientific Instrument Co., Ltd., the largest domestic exhibitor, had a 2-story booth and a great deal of visitor traffic. "'We had a lot of good talks with potential customers, especially with those from abroad," he said. "We have been since the premiere, and we definitely plan to come back for the next show in 2006."
