Tecan Japan announce the establishment of the Tecan Kobe Application Development Center in Japan
The laboratory facility will be used to demonstrate new laboratory automation solutions based on the company's Freedom EVO workstations, plate readers and washers. The center will provide a location to further develop the well-known flexibility and configurability of Tecan's products by optimizing protocols and gathering data to validate new solutions. This will reduce risk during protocol development as well as ensure minimum installation time and immediate performance of Tecan solutions for customers. "We have had many requests for new automation ideas over the last two years that we wanted to pursue but couldn't due to a lack of proof-of-experiment results," said Scott Eaton, President of Tecan Japan. "Now, with this new facility, our staff have a setting in which they can test these ideas for customers more thoroughly than they were able to do in the past."
The demand for laboratory automation continues to rise as more techniques need to be performed and more samples need to be processed. This increases the need for automation of existing and new testing procedures. At the same time, qualified staff must be assigned to projects to define procedures and find more rational approaches for development. Each new project that requires automation represents a considerable challenge for development specialists and manufacturers. This challenge includes setting up products to meet the needs reliably and consistently while keeping up with the considerable pace of technology development. Tecan has recognized this challenge for some time. The company is now moving forward in its efforts to provide a center offering further support and resources for these activities on a long-term basis. Once the center is operational, it will greatly help in the development of laboratory automation solutions for research purposes. This will translate into significant gains in productivity for customers in drug discovery and development, diagnostics and other key areas in the life sciences.
