WACKER Receives a Large Order from Procter & Gamble
Cyclodextrins are ring-shaped molecules made up of glucose units. Their characteristic feature is a cavity that can enclose other molecules and release them again. They absorb body odors, as well as external odors, and can also encapsulate and bind their organic components. This property is useful, for example, for preventing, or at least delaying, microbial breakdown of sweat. Fabrics stay fresh longer. These cyclic sugar molecules also couple to fragrances and various active ingredients, such as textile conditioners, and release them at a controlled rate. In cosmetics and personal care, they are used in creams, gels and lotions to stabilize their active ingredients and release them more efficiently onto the skin.
