Wayne Mackwood Appointed Business Development Manager for Crompton's Petroleum Additives Grease Market
Wayne Mackwood has been appointed business development manager for Crompton's Petroleum additives grease market. In this expanded role, Wayne is responsible for managing the portfolio of new grease products and applications to help ensure the continued dynamic growth of the grease business. Additionally, he will assist the global market manager, operations and customer service in decisions affecting day-to-day grease issues. Wayne will also continue in his dual role of grease research and development and technical service. Wayne joined Crompton (Witco) Petroleum Additives in 1993 as a tribologist and was promoted to senior tribologist in 2003. During this time, he was primarily responsible for development of grease formulations to meet customer needs in demanding applications. He has developed grease products for use in steel mills, marine deck and nuclear power equipment, rail curves and, most recently, grease for H1 certified food machinery use. He also was involved in the tribological evaluation of novel anti-wear and EP technology for use in automotive and industrial applications. Wayne has been additionally responsible for technical service support during this time.
A graduate of the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada, Wayne earned a bachelor of engineering science degree and a masters of engineering science degree in materials science. He has co-authored several papers on lubricant additives and on the development of calcium sulfonate grease.
Wayne is a member of the National Lubricating Grease Institute (NLGI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Conseil International des Machines à Combustion (CIMAC) and is very active in the Toronto section of Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE), having held past positions of secretary and chairman.
