Sigma-Aldrich and Proteome Systems Announce Proteomics Alliance
ST. LOUIS--(BW HealthWire)--Oct. 25, 2000--Sigma-Aldrich (NASDAQ:SIAL), a $1 billion plus life science and high technology company announced its intention to enter into a manufacturing and exclusive distribution agreement with a leading proteomics company, Proteome Systems. Under the agreement, Sigma-Aldrich will exclusively manufacture and distribute certain products developed by Proteome Systems for use in proteomic analysis.
This alliance foreshadows a long-term relationship between Sigma-Aldrich and Proteome Systems with respect to the collaborative development of other proprietary Proteome Systems' technologies and systems for use in proteomic research.
Dave Julien, President of the Life Science Division of Sigma-Aldrich said, "As a leading supplier of life science products, our goal is to bring enabling technologies to our customers as quickly as possible. As part of our strategy to increase collaborations, we are pleased to announce this relationship with Proteome Systems. We believe Proteome Systems is a genuine leader in the field of proteomics and are excited about the opportunity to work with them on the definition and delivery of a complete solution for proteomics research."
CEO and founder of Proteome Systems, Dr. Keith Williams said, "We are delighted to have the opportunity to work together with one of the world's most experienced life sciences companies to open up the proteomics market globally. There is intense interest in proteomics but few have a clear understanding of how to translate the opportunities into products that will drive discovery. We are confident that a Proteome Systems/Sigma-Aldrich partnership has all of the ingredients required to design, develop and distribute key enabling technologies for proteomics."
