Dynea to build an impregnation line in China
The new impregnation line will have an annual capacity of 30 million square metres of technical overlays films, including high quality surface films for the quickly growing Chinese concrete shuttering board market.
Dynea began supplying the Chinese market some four years ago with phenolic overlays from its subsidiaries - initially from Finland and later from Indonesia. The trading volumes have grown rapidly and the demand for phenolic shuttering films is anticipated to grow 30 percent annually. Major drivers are construction and infrastructure projects linked to the Beijing 2008 Olympics, the government's urban residence development program and the West China Development program. Thanks to the Chinese plywood industry's growing use of plantation forests, plywood is increasingly replacing traditional steel and bamboo boards for shuttering.
To Dynea, China is a strategic market for growth and the start-up of the new overlays line is another indication of Dynea's commitment to serve this market. Dynea aims to work closely with its customers and offer them superior surfacing solutions locally. Dynea continues to explore new investment opportunities to strengthen its position as the number one choice in adhesion and surfacing solutions for the Chinese market.
At the moment, Dynea produces adhesives at two locations in China. The Beijing Dynea Chemical Industry Co. Ltd, located in Beijing, produces panelboard adhesives, impregnating resins and wood glues to serve both the captive needs of its joint-venture partner Beijing Jinyu Group as well as the markets in Northern China. In November 2002, Dynea Shanghai Co Ltd's Manufacture and Service Base was inaugurated to serve the Chinese wood-working industry and other industrial applications with water-based adhesives. Dynea is also building a new panelboard resins plant in southern Thailand to serve the quickly growing panel board industry in the region, and a wood adhesives plant in Surabaya, Indonesia.
