WACKER Opts for Elemica for Electronic Order Processing

20-Mar-2003

WACKER is extending its electronic sales network with the adoption of the Elemica e-business platform. Since February it has become possible to submit orders through the virtual network.

Ludwigshafen-based BASF is the first German company to take advantage of WACKER's new electronic interface. The network link allows the placing and processing of orders round the clock. The ordering workflow takes place largely automatically, with no need for human intervention. This new communication route speeds up the ordering process, reduces transaction costs and minimizes the risk of processing errors, as occur when data are transmitted and input manually.

"We set up the Elemica link speedily thanks to dedicated teamwork by everyone involved," enthuses Konrad Kammergruber, Vice President of E-Business at WACKER. "Once the project has been successfully implemented, we will also link other companies and transactions via Elemica at both the purchasing and sales sides. This will provide our customers and suppliers with a more committed relationship with WACKER."

Jürgen Weyh, Director of Commercial Solutions at Elemica Europe also sees benefits in the cooperation with WACKER and BASF: "the rapid link up to WACKER shows that Elemica solutions pay off not only for the original investors in Elemica, but also for the specialty chemical companies that Elemica targets."
