Eli Lilly and Company Ranks Among the Most Admired Companies in the United States
Eli Lilly and Company ranks among the nation's most admired companies both within the pharmaceutical industry and among industries in general, according to Fortune magazine.
A consulting firm, the Hay Group, considered the 10 largest companies (by revenue) in 66 industries and rated them using eight criteria: innovativeness, employee talent, use of corporate assets, financial soundness, long-term investment value, social responsibility, quality of management and quality of products and services.
After ranking fifth in the pharmaceutical industry for two consecutive years, Lilly moved up a spot to fourth place, its highest ranking ever. Lilly received the top ranking within the pharmaceutical industry for innovation and was never lower than fifth in the remaining seven criteria.
This marks the fourth consecutive year Lilly has made the pharmaceutical list. In total, 587 companies appear on Fortune's 2003 Most Admired Companies list. Lilly also has earned rankings in previous Fortune magazine ratings, including one of the best places to work and the global most-admired list.
