Styron Implements Capacity Reduction for SB Latex in Europe

06-May-2013 - Switzerland

Styron Europe GmbH announced a reduction in the manufacturing capacity for  Styrene Butadiene (SB) latex in Europe. Styron reduced production by 70,000 dry metric tonnes. The capacity reduction was completed over the past several months across Styron production facilities in Hamina, Finland; Rheinmunster, Germany; and Terneuzen, The Netherlands.

The shift in production is in response to the current overcapacity in the European marketplace. Due to declining demand in the European paper-coating market and current market conditions, a reduction is essential to regain a healthy supply/demand balance.
