23-Aug-2012 - Russian Federation

In May 2012 the ThyssenKrupp plant construction business won a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for a single-train polypropylene plant. The plant will be built for ZapSibNeftechim L.L.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sibur, the biggest Russian gas processing and petrochemicals group. The plant, which will have a design capacity of 500,000 t/year, is to be built in Tobolsk, Tyumen Region, in West Siberia. The permitting for the contract will be carried out by the local company OOO Uhde during contract execution.

The polypropylene plant will be based on LyondellBasell's Spheripol process, the most widely used technology for the production of polypropylene. The Tobolsk plant will produce a wide range of polypropylene brands for use, for example, in textile and packaging applications as well as in the production of automotive body parts and consumer goods.
