Noveon Expands Antwerp Facility to Meet Growing Demand for Carbopol(R) Products

CLEVELAND, Aug. 26, 2002-- Noveon, Inc. has announced an expansion of its Carbopol(R) manufacturing facility at Antwerp, Belgium. This is the third expansion of the Antwerp facility since starting up in 1996. The expansion project is under way and is expected to be complete in July 2003.

"We are expanding our Antwerp plant, which utilizes the latest process technology, to meet increased demand and to better serve our customers in Europe," said Bill Sedlacek, Noveon Senior Vice President, Personal Care and Pharmaceuticals.

Carbopol products are used by customers worldwide in hundreds of end products, including shampoos, hair gel and lotions. Carbopol is also used in household and industrial applications such as automatic dishwasher liquid and cleaners.

The Antwerp facility began operating in 1996 and currently employs 70. No significant increase in employment is expected due to the expansion.
