Fast and scalable CO₂ emission reduction
ctrl+s Secures Seed Funding to Accelerate and Optimize Emission Reduction in Supply Chains
Berlin-based climate-tech company ctrl+s has successfully closed a €1 million seed funding round, led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and supported by experienced industry experts like Benjamin Schulz as an angel investor. With this funding, ctrl+s will further scale its platform, helping companies worldwide to efficiently and data-drivenly reduce their CO₂ emissions.
Growing Urgency for Emission Reduction in Supply Chains
On average, 80% of a company’s total emissions originate from its supply chain. At the same time, regulatory frameworks such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) are increasing the pressure on companies to establish full transparency over their Scope 3 emissions and implement concrete reduction measures.
However, many companies struggle to reliably measure and reduce these emissions. Data gaps, unclear responsibilities, and time-consuming manual analyses hinder the implementation of effective decarbonization strategies. Additionally, companies normally lack operational control over suppliers and must navigate fragmented, multi-tier supply networks with limited transparency.
A Shortcut to Decarbonizing Global Supply Chains
ctrl+s provides a data-driven solution for fast, scalable, and precise CO₂ management – without requiring extensive data collection from all suppliers. By combining statistical models with supplier-specific data, the platform generates reliable CO₂ analyses, identifies emission hotspots, and taps into reduction potential across the entire supply chain.
Companies gain access to precise control KPIs, enabling them to seamlessly integrate decarbonization into procurement processes, derive targeted reduction measures, and meet regulatory requirements.
“Many companies set ambitious climate goals, but the real challenge lies in avoiding resource-intensive data collection efforts that don’t significantly bring them closer to achieving their targets. Our platform provides strategic procurement teams with a robust data foundation for precise decision-making – and the essential tool to take action and effectively reduce emissions,” says Johannes Scholz, Co-Founder and Managing Director of ctrl+s.
Expansion and Growth
ctrl+s is already profitable and will use the seed funding to further develop its technology and expand its market reach. Companies such as Siemens and TÜV Süd are using the platform to efficiently monitor, manage, and reduce their Scope 3 emissions.
“The ctrl+s team combines deep scientific expertise with practical application. They understand the challenges companies face in decarbonizing global supply chains and have the technological know-how to solve them efficiently. We are convinced that ctrl+s, with its data-driven approach, will play a key role in reducing Scope 3 emissions,” says Christian Arndt, Principal at HTGF.
