Jack McGuire becomes head of Whatman BioScience

Whatman plc announced today that it will acquire the assets of HemaSure Inc, subject to HemaSure Inc shareholder approval. As part of this deal Whatman has retained all of HemaSure's key personnel including, in particular, HemaSure's former President and Chief Executive Jack McGuire. Jack will become Head of Whatman BioScience which was created to commercialise Whatman's technologies for the isolation, storage and purification of DNA.

Jack has spent his entire career in sales and marketing in healthcare businesses. Prior to joining HemaSure in 1997 he served as Vice President and General Manager of Johnson & Johnson's (J&J) Ortho Diagnostic Systems Blood Bank business. He had joined J&J from Dupont in 1988, as Marketing Director for the AIDS and Hepatitis Business Unit. He held various other positions in J&J including 4 years in the UK as Managing Director of Ortho Diagnostic Systems.

Jack has a B.S. in Chemistry, an MBA from Harvard University and served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps.
