Wacker Receives 2009 Cologne Chemical-Industry Prize

07-Sep-2009 - Germany

Wacker was awarded the Cologne Chemical-Industry Prize by Germany’s Association of Chemical Industry Executives (VAA). WACKER received this prize due to the outstanding satisfaction grades given by its management employees. The jury’s decision was based on a 2009 VAA survey – conducted for the eighth time now – of satisfaction among over 2,000 management and executive personnel at 26 major German chemical and pharmaceutical companies.

At the Cologne MediaPark award ceremony, Dr. Thomas Fischer, chairman of the VAA, and Friedrich Überacker, head of the Rhineland branch of the chemical-industry employers’ association, praised Wacker’s corporate culture. “The Cologne Chemical-Industry Prize is something special. Employees themselves honor a company which, via its personnel policies, has created a good work atmosphere for top performance in the chemical industry,” said Fischer. He underscored the fact that Wacker’s strategy is not only oriented toward short-term trends and analysts’ emphasis on quarterly results. Instead, the focus is more on sustainable and continual development. Fischer: “Key staff recognize and reward this approach accordingly.”
