Laser Diffraction has become a standard tool to provide material scientists with valuable data on the particle size of their samples. The technique looks at the overall sample and provides data on upper and lower size ranges and gives averages like Mean Particle Size. However, it assumes a nearest equivalent spherical model and tells the user little about the actual details of the particles. By incorporating Dynamic Image Analysis, SYNC can now provide details on individual particles - Longest Diameter, Shortest Diameter, Aspect Ratio, Sphericity and a series of other morphological parameters.
The patented Synchronous method employed provides both Laser Diffraction and Dynamic Image Analysis data of the same sample in the same sample cell at the same time in both wet and dry modes. For materials where particle shape is as important as particle size (e.g. glass beads) this combination technology provides a complete determination that the material meets its design criteria.
