NRMM (Non-Road Mobile Machinery) like excavators for construction or tractors for agriculture cause about 2% of the annual EU CO2 emissions but about 50 % of particle emissions! This is especially health-concerning for construction sites witihn close proximity to populated areas. However, electrifying NRMMs is a challenge due to high energy and power requirements and (especially for agricultural machines) large distances to charging infrastructures. Furthermore, the sector has inherently low product volumes yet high diversity, which make electrification costly. But with ever increasing battery performance and new charging solutions, viable use cases arise. That is exactly the arena of explains in the short interview from the EPT of , how modularization and standardization of up to 90 % of all used components helps them to electrify commercial vehicles.
