Government commissions NCEC to author book of Emergency Codes
The 2009 edition of the Dangerous Goods Emergency Action Code List outlines the application of appropriate Hazchem Emergency Actions Codes (EACs) in Britain. The list is an essential compliance document for the emergency services, local government and for those who may control the planning for, and prevention of, emergencies involving dangerous goods.
NCEC has been at the heart of the UK EAC system since its inception in the early 1970s, and until 1996 published the list of codes on behalf of the UK Government. This task then passed on to various Government Departments before an agreement was reached in late 2008 for NCEC to resume managing the publication.
As well as the published volume, a free PDF download of the publication will be made available from the NCEC website.
