30 Years' WACKER Spain
Wacker Química Ibérica S.A., a wholly-owned Wacker Chemie AG subsidiary, is celebrating its 30th anniversary today. Established in 1978, the Barcelona-based sales subsidiary now serves customers in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. In 2007, Wacker Química Ibérica and its employees generated sales of over €75 million. Key markets include the construction, automotive, textiles, paper and chemical industries.
As part of WACKER’s European sales network, Wacker Química Ibérica S.A. is responsible for all sales and distribution activities on the Iberian Peninsula. Over the last few years, the subsidiary has achieved above-average growth. In 2007 alone, sales grew by 16% to over € 75 million.
Wacker Química’s managing director, Thomas Funke, is expecting good results in 2008, too. “Thanks to high product quality, outstanding service and a committed team of experts, Wacker Química Ibérica S.A. is ideally positioned. Even though some sectors, such as the Spanish construction industry, have for months been affected by extremely difficult business conditions, I’m very confident we’ll be able to boost our total sales this year, too.”
Thomas Funke also sees further growth potential in the years ahead. “As has been proved time and again, innovations from Spanish industry, our Group, and other geographical regions can all spur new growth in our business.”
