Brenntag opens new storage and distribution center in the Netherlands

18-Jun-2008

Brenntag opened a new site in the Chemiehaven of Rotterdam Port (The Netherlands). At the new facility, which will replace the 40 years old former location on the opposite of the Chemiehaven, Brenntag will store, handle and distribute a broad range of bulk and packed solvents and products.

Built on an area of 30,000 m² the new site is adjacent to the Vopak terminal with whom integration of facilities has been developed: Bulk solvents are stored as well in own underground tanks of 50m³ each as in high volume tanks (800-1200 m³) at the Vopak site. Both sites are connected with pipe-lines allowing Brenntag to handle the products at its own site.

"Also other partners can take advantage of this cooperation; for example by storing their products at Vopak and using the Brenntag facilities for handling & distribution", says Carl Blomme, Managing Director Brenntag in the Benelux.

The new facilities are compliant with the strictest legislations, regulations & guidelines on safety, health & environment. More than 30% of the total investment is HSE related.
