Evonik Industries Appoints WorleyParsons EPCM Contractor in China
"The signing of this agreement, a month after the laying of the cornerstone, is another important step toward profiting from China's strong growth," says Gregor Hetzke, head of Evonik's Methacrylates Business Unit. "In MaisonWorleyParsons (MWP), one of the most experienced EPCM and EPC contractors in China, and the internationally renowned WorleyParson Engineering Group, we have succeeded in securing partners who are active worldwide." MWP is responsible for everything from detail engineering up to mechanical completion. EPCM's work will be carried out in Peking and Shanghai.
With an investment volume of EUR250 million, the integrated production facility represents the second-largest single investment in the history of Evonik's Chemicals Business Area. The integrated methacrylate production facility comprises, in addition to an annual capacity of about 100,000 metric tons of MMA, plants for producing methacrylic acid, butyl methacrylate, specialty methacrylates, and PMMA molding compounds. These constitute an optimized network, unique anywhere in the world, for supplying customers in the fields of opto-electronics, the adhesives and coatings industries, and automotive construction.
