Borealis and Borouge are co-founders of the Stockholm Water Prize
Borealis and Borouge have become co-founders of the Stockholm water Prize, contributing to the promotion and reward of leadership and best practices in water and sanitation. The award was presented by the King of Sweden in the Stockholm City Hall on August 16, 2007, during World Water Week.

Borealis
This year's prize laureate, Professor Perry L. McCarty, from Stanford University in the United States, was rewarded for his groundbreaking work in developing the scientific approach for the design and operation of water and wastewater systems. He has defined the field of environmental biotechnology, which forms the basis for small and large-scale pollution control and safe drinking water systems.
First presented in 1991, the Stockholm Water Prize is an international award presented yearly to an individual, organisation or institution for outstanding water-related activities in the fields of aid, awareness building and education, technology, management or science. The award includes a USD 150,000 award and a crystal sculpture.
