Heraeus takes over French metal powder manufacturer

07-Aug-2007

On July 1, 2007, the W. C. Heraeus GmbH division of the international precious metals and technology group Heraeus acquired the French company Poudres de Soudure de Précision S.A. (PSP), which is headquartered in Grésy sur Aix. Established in 1995, PSP is a manufacturer of ultra-fine metal powders for the electronics industry. This acquisition strengthens Heraeus's position as a provider of high-quality materials, including the solder powder and solder paste that are used for connections in the semiconductor industry. According to Heraeus, the new company, Heraeus PSP S.A.S., is distinguished by its technological expertise in ultrasound-supported production methods for metal powder and will continue to distribute its products directly to the market.

"Over the past few years, W. C. Heraeus has focused on targeted acquisitions in the sphere of new technologies. This has enabled us to expand our position as a market leader in a variety of areas. In addition, we are providing our newest subsidiary, Heraeus PSP S.A.S., with an excellent platform for expanding its Asian business as part of the Heraeus consolidated companies. As soon as this acquisition was concluded, we began construction of a new solder powder plant in Zhaoyuan (located in Shandong Province in eastern China)," notes Dr. Roland Gerner, Managing Director of W. C. Heraeus GmbH.
