The Linde Group to increase gas supply to Hungarian chemical company BorsodChem

25-May-2007

The Linde Group and the Hungarian chemical company BorsodChem Zrt. have agreed to expand their cooperation regarding industrial gas supplies to BorsodChem's main production site in Kazincbarcika, Hungary. Linde and BorsodChem intend to enter into a long term supply agreement about the additional supply of around 150,000 tons of carbon monoxide and hydrogen per year for the expansion of BorsodChem's isocyanate production.

"With new investments of approximately 100 million Euro, complementing the three existing plants, this location will become one of Linde's top five production sites for hydrogen and carbon monoxide worldwide", said Dr Aldo Belloni, member of the executive board of Linde AG. Isocyanate is an intermediate compound for polyurethane (PU), a versatile polymer with growing applications in the car, aeroplane, electronic, furniture, and appliance manufacturing, for example.
