PerkinElmer and Seiko Instruments Sign Exclusive Global Distribution Agreement

28-Nov-2001

PerkinElmer, Inc. (NYSE:PKI) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to become the exclusive distributor for Seiko Instruments Inc.'s (SII's) thermal analysis product line. The partnership includes distribution and service in all geographic markets except Japan, where SII is based.

"The combination of Seiko Instruments' strong thermal instrument offerings with our global service and support capability will greatly benefit customers," said Stephen P. DeFalco, president of PerkinElmer Instruments. "Seiko Instruments' line of high-performance thermal analysis tools complements our industry leading power-compensation differential scanning calorimeters and thermogravimetric analyzers. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers a complete solution for materials property analysis."

Yoshihiko Teramoto, vice president and division manager, Scientific Instruments Division of Seiko Instruments, added, "PerkinElmer's extensive sales and service network is highly regarded throughout the industry, and provides us with an exceptional opportunity to expand our presence outside Japan and improve service to our customers worldwide."

The agreement grants PerkinElmer the exclusive rights, outside Japan, to sell and support SII's line of thermal analysis products, which are used in research and quality control environments to determine material stability and resistance. Used primarily in the polymer and fast-growing pharmaceutical markets, these tools also have application in the food and electronics industries.
