09-Feb-2007

LANXESS has received the approval of the U.S. food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its plasticizer Mesamoll® II. This approval covers its use in products that come into contact with aqueous based foodstuffs. The universal plasticizer alkylsulfonic phenyl ester is suitable for polymers such as polyurethane, NBR rubber and PVC. "The FDA approval is an important milestone for us. We can now offer plasticizing solutions for specialty applications such as toys," says a delighted Dr. Michael Gauss, head of the Functional Chemicals business unit.
