19-Jan-2007

Mitsui chemicals Inc. signed an agreement on December 7, 2006, with E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company ("DuPont") to supply a new fungicide known as Penthiopyrad (MCI Code Number: MTF-753). In accordance with this agreement, MCI will license DuPont to register and sell formulated products using Penthiopyrad in the Americas, European Union and Australasia. First sales are scheduled for 2011.

Under the newly developed Grand Design (the basic management framework of the group), MCI has decided to reorganize its business portfolio. The new portfolio consists of three business domains such as "Basic Chemicals," "Performance Materials" and "Advanced Chemicals." Among them, the company is aiming to grow up the Advanced Chemicals field to be one of its business mainstays.

With the aim of securing "food safety", MCI's Agrochemicals Division has been committed to the development of pesticides less risk to human health and the environment. As a core of the Advanced Chemicals Business group, the division will continue the contribution to agriculture in the world by developing safety and superior active ingredient in alignment with plans for business expansion.
