Mulrooney named president of Basell Polyolefins North America
In his new role, Mulrooney is responsible for Basell's polypropylene operations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. He has succeeded Randy Woelfel, who is now an advisor to Basell's Management Board.
Mulrooney is a graduate of Villanova University, where he earned a BS degree in chemical engineering. Prior to his new assignment he was a senior vice president in Basell's Technology division, responsible for the identification, development and implementation of the company's new joint venture projects worldwide, and was based in Frankfurt, Germany. He began his career in 1980 as a process engineer with Basell predecessor company Hercules in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Other assignments included positions in business management, international projects, acquisitions, strategic planning, marketing and manufacturing.
Schmidt is succeeding Don Drummond, who will retire as senior vice president, Sales & Marketing, North America on January 1. Prior to this appointment, Schmidt was senior vice president, Polyolefin Products, Basell Polyolefins Europe and was based in Wesseling, Germany. Schmidt began his career in 1988 with Basell's predecessor company Hoechst and has extensive experience in supply chain management, strategic planning and product development as well as sales and marketing.
