BASF raises formic acid production capacity
BASF plans to raise its formic acid production capacity at the Ludwigshafen site by 25,000 metric tons annually with effect during the course of the year 2007. The de-bottlenecking comes in response to a continually increasing demand for this versatile chemical intermediate. According to the company, with a current annual capacity of 230,000 metric tons, BASF is the world's leading manufacturer of formic acid with production plants at its integrated Verbund sites in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Nanjing, China.
