Beiersdorf affiliate Nivea Seoul Ltd. enters alliance for product distribution in Korean wound healing market
NIVEA Seoul Ltd., the Korean affiliate of Beiersdorf, entered a strategic alliance with Green Cross Corporate (GCC). The contract signing ceremony for Hansaplast distribution took place in June. The alliance aims to build a business platform for the launch of plasters in 2007. In Korea, the advanced wound healing market has been rapidly growing over the last years by several entries of local and international players and is ready for the launch of advanced products from Hansaplast.
The GCC takes ownership of an exclusive distribution right of Hansaplast in the pharmacy channel. It is the 10th biggest pharmaceutical company in Korea with strong expertise in biopharmaceuticals and has built a good reputation among the pharmacy society, which is one of the main reasons to select GCC as a strategic partner. Furthermore GCC maintains a huge salesforce with one of the broadest direct coverage in the pharmacy sector.
With this agreement, NIVEA Seoul obtains the well-established distribution network of GCC as well as professional knowledge in that field. Depending on the final product approval by the Korean Food & Drug Administration distribution will start in the first quarter of 2007.
