PolyOne's Elastomers & Performance Additives Group Announces Product Line Extensions
Bayer has recently announced that they will discontinue marketing these products, and refer them to PolyOne so that they can continue to be supplied to customers. For more than ten years, Bayer Krynac(R) brand NBR/PVC products have been toll-produced by PolyOne. This means that as the product is transitioned to PolyOne, current Bayer customers will continue to receive the same formulation and high quality they have come to expect.
PolyOne and Bayer sales representatives will contact affected Bayer customers to begin the transition. Bayer will eventually end sales of NBR/PVC blends, to concentrate on NBR polymer production, but only after the right steps are taken to help see that customers transitions go smoothly.
Bayer Perbunan(R) brand NBR/PVC products are produced in Germany using latex blending facilities that Bayer expects to close in the very near future. PolyOne and Bayer technical and product quality teams have worked closely together to develop equivalent mechanical blends. Bayer/PolyOne testing shows that the new ProFlex MB mechanical blends are excellent replacements for the Perbunan(R) latex-blend produced products.
This agreement represents a continuing effort by both companies to focus on their core strengths. Bayer is a global designer and producer of quality thermoset elastomers including NBR. PolyOne Elastomers & Performance Additives Group, serving nearly 1,600 customers, is the world's largest custom elastomers compounder, and PolyOne Corporation is the world's largest producer of compounded PVC.
The new NBR/PVC products will be marketed as ProFlex MB brand masterbatch products and incorporate Bayer nomenclature for ease of identification. These new products will be based upon Bayer Krynac and Perbunan polymer. For example, "KRYNAC NV 850 NBR/PVC" will become "ProFlex MB NV 850 NBR/PVC," based upon Bayer - nitrile polymer.
PolyOne Elastomers & Performance Additives offers custom compounding of customer-owned recipes, toll mixing, individualized product developments, HARWICK(R) brand prepared additives for rubber, and ProFlex brand optimized elastomer compounds.
