Tessenderlo Group expands its capacity of caustic potash
Given the altered circumstances in the market, Tessenderlo Group will increase its production capacity of caustic potash (KOH) at its Tessenderlo plant in Belgium. According to the company, since last year a shortage of caustic potash has arisen in Europe. Tessenderlo Group is able to cover this shortage by means of an immediate increase of its own capacity to 160,000 tonnes.
Given the recently announced closures of competing producers, which Tessenderlo Group anticipated in the long term, the group has subsequently decided to increase even further its production capacity to 220,000 tonnes. This volume will be available as from August - September 2006.
The total production capacity of Tessenderlo Group, including the capacity at PCLoos (France), will amount to 250,000 tonnes of caustic potash.
