Merck KGaA: Steffen Mueller to Head External Communications
Merck KGaA announced that Steffen Mueller, 39, has been named Head of External Communications. He replaces Dr. Hartmut Vennen, who left Merck on October 1, 2005.
Mueller comes to Merck with a long and varied career in the field of Corporate Communications. From 2002 through the end of 2005, he was deputy director of Corporate Communications and head of Media Relations and Publications for the Bad Homburg, Germany-based pharmaceuticals and chemicals company ALTANA. Prior to joining ALTANA, he was involved with communications at the former French-German pharmaceutical company Aventis and the engine manufacturer Deutz. As part of his new responsibilities, Mueller will also serve as the deputy to Merck Corporate Communications Director Dr. Walter Huber.
