Makthteshim Agan launches a new herbicide in the Canadian market

The first generic company to obtain registration for the sale of Clethodim in Canada

16-Dec-2005

Makhteshim Agan Industries announced that it has obtained registration for marketing the generic version of the herbicide Clethodim in the Canadian market. The product is a selective grass herbicide in broad leaf crops such as soybean and canola. The market of crop protection products in Canada is estimated at about 1 US billion dollar.

Makhteshim Agan is the first generic company to obtain registration for the sale of the product in Canada, where 6 month ago it was the first to obtain registration of the propiconazole. The Canadian market has become known in recent years for its very high entry barriers and complicated and lengthy registration processes. The product was introduced to the American market about two years ago, where it has been a great commercial success. Makhteshim Agan intends to start sales of the product in Canada under the commercial name Arrow during 2006.
