Eka Chemicals invests in paper chemicals in China
Eka Chemicals, a business unit of Akzo Nobel, will build a new plant for production of paper chemicals in Guangzou, Guandong province in the south of China. The new operation is scheduled to come on-line by the fourth quarter 2006. The investment amounts to more than 4 mEUR.
This additional facility will strengthen Eka´s capacity in China. The company already has another production facility and technical service laboratory located in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, established in 1999.
The focus will be on the production and supply of Eka´s range of sizing agents and for Eka, being a major paper chemicals company, it is important to establish a facility in the strategically important area of Guangdong, already a leading paper and board manufacturing province in China. The site will have the flexibility to include further products from Eka´s portfolio at a later stage.
