Zimmer to build two polyester plants in India

28-Oct-2005

Zimmer AG, a GEA Group company, has won an order to build two polyester plants in Butibori, India. The contract has been awarded by the Indian company Indo Rama Synthetics Ltd., one of the largest polyester producers in the subcontinent. The project represents a total investment of EUR 150 million, of which Zimmer's contract has a value in the middle double-digit million Euro range. The project is being supported by Indian subsidies and export loans from German banks.

The contract comprises the construction of two polyester polycondensation plants, each of which will produce 140,000 tonnes of polymers per year. In addition, Zimmer is constructing two staple-fiber lines, which will be connected to one of the polycondensation plants. Zimmer will supply the technology, engineering and equipment and is responsible for overseeing the assembly process and the plants' commissioning, which is scheduled for mid-2006.
