Linde gets extension order for BASF plant in Antwerp
Technology group Linde is set to carry out the capacity extension of the Naphtha steamcracker in Antwerp, Belgium, for BASF AG. This order has an approximate value of around 180 million euros.
Due to increasing demand, the annual capacity of the plant, built by Linde in the early nineties, will be extended by about one third to 1,080,000 tons of ethylene and 650,000 tons of propylene. Following expansion, the BASF plant in Antwerp will be one of the biggest liquid crackers in the world.
The extension work, which includes the delivery of a new cracking furnace featuring state-of-the-art, propriety Linde technology, is to be completed by autumn 2007.
