BASF to increase prices for polyalcohols in Europe

03-Mar-2005

Effective March 1, 2005, or as contracts allow, BASF in Europe will raise its prices for the polyalcohols Neopentyl glycol and trimethylolpropane (TMPhydro®) by 0.09 EUR/kg and for 1,6-Hexanediol by 0.20 EUR/kg.

These price increases are necessary as a result of further increased energy and logistic costs.

Polyalcohols are widely used in solvent free or high solid coatings, which contribute to the reduction of solvent emissions to our environment, but also in polyurethanes, alkyd resins, plastizers, artificial leather, cosmetics, or synthetic lubricants. With seven existing plants world wide, BASF is one of the leading raw material suppliers to this industry.
