PERKINELMER, INC. ANNOUNCES ITS INTENT TO SELL THE DETECTION SYSTEMS BUSINESS
PerkinElmer has made the strategic decision to divest Detection Systems as it continues to improve its focus on growth opportunities in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, aerospace, semiconductor and telecommunications markets.
"Over the past year, Detection Systems has been working to improve its internal processes, with a focus on quality manufacturing, design, and customer service. We have a robust product development pipeline and have achieved an industry leading position. PerkinElmer has been a great parent company through this period and now we look forward to finding a new owner that is interested in developing the security and detection markets. In the long run I believe this decision is the best course of action for our business and customers.”, said Michael Meshay, President of Detection Systems.
Discussions will commence immediately with prospective buyers and the company expects an announcement to be made within the calendar year. In the interim, PerkinElmer remains committed to supporting Detection Systems through continued investment in its R&D programs, quality efforts, and the transition of business functions from Cypress, CA to Woburn, MA. There will be no interruptions of customer service during the transition period. Customers are encouraged to contact their regional Detection Systems office with any questions or concerns that they may have regarding the announcement.
