Great Lakes Forms Strategic Alliance With MYCELX Technologies

08-Jan-2004

Great Lakes Chemical Corporation announced that its BioLab, Inc. subsidiary has entered into a strategic alliance with MYCELX Technologies to market a broad range of patented MYCELX® environmental products for use in pool and spa care and industrial water treatment applications. The alliance will also focus on developing new and alternative products that incorporate the unique properties of MYCELX.

MYCELX is a patented polymeric composition that directly bonds to hydrocarbons, making them hydrophobic and viscoelastic so they can be completely removed from water and air. Materials infused with MYCELX are able to remove pollutants from water and air on contact to below detectable limits.

BioLab has made an equity investment in MYCELX Technologies and will receive exclusive use, application, and distribution rights for specific MYCELX products in a number of designated applications and territories throughout the world. These agreements cover areas of business interest for BioLab including pool and spa care products and industrial water treatment applications.

MYCELX Technologies is a privately held company based in Gainesville, GA. BioLab Inc., based in Lawrenceville, GA, is a leading supplier of consumer products for use in swimming pools, hot tubs, and home cleaning, along with products for industrial water treatment. BioLab is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Great Lakes Chemical Corporation.
