API and Utech Announce Partnership in 2007

07-Oct-2003

The Alliance for the polyurethanes Industry (API) announced its plan to partner with UTECH on a global polyurethanes exhibition and conference in 2007. The event would combine the resources of the Polyurethanes Technical Conference and Expo, organized by API, and the UTECH conference, organized by Crain Communications Ltd.

"This partnership is an opportunity to leverage the strengths of two global trade shows into one marquee event," said Dick Mericle, executive director of API. "The polyurethanes industry is becoming increasingly global, with companies making major investments in all regions of the world. By establishing a single trade show for this global industry, we're clearly providing additional value for exhibitors and attendees."

The announcement came during Polyurethanes Expo 2003 in Orlando, Florida. API does not plan to hold another Expo until the 2007 event, but will hold a technical conference in 2004 (Las Vegas), a technical conference with a technology pavilion in 2005 (Houston) and a technical conference in 2006 (Salt Lake City). The UTECH exhibition, which operates on a rotation between Asia (2005) and Europe (2006), will have its first presence in North America at the 2007 event, placing the global trade show on a 3-year cycle among the three major polyurethane regions.
